Fisherman’s Wharf is a must-visit spot in downtown Victoria. Just a 10-minute walk from the Oswego Hotel, you’ll find freshly-caught seafood, live music, fine art and boutiques, and have the opportunity to visit the permanent, colourful floating houses that many Victorians call home.

There are many great spots to grab a meal or a snack, starting with Barb’s Fish & Chips. Barb’s has been an anchor (pardon the pun) of Fisherman’s Wharf for 40 years! Aside from serving up wild cod and salmon fish & chips, they have a whole menu of savoury specials, from seafood burgers to breaded shrimp, hot dogs, and chowders.

For pizza lovers, the Pirate Pizza Co. has been voted Victoria’s best pizza, serving up slices or whole pies. We highly recommend the Peg Leg Pepperoni or the Loch, Stock & Two Smokin’ Salmon artisan pizza!

If you came to Victoria to experience the best, freshest seafood, check out the Fish Store. In addition to wild-caught fish (which you can often see being delivered right from the boats), every day between 4 pm and 5 pm, they host a buck-a-shuck – enjoy as many fresh, local oysters as you can for only $1 apiece.

If you want to take a ‘crack’ at cooking your own seafood boil in one of our ensuite kitchens, stop by the Fish Store, or Hi-Gear Seafood. You can purchase fresh live crab and lobster, right off the boat, and try one of the many recipes they have on their website.

After you’ve had your fill of local cuisine, head on over to the 4 Winds Nest Artisan Boutique. There you will find crafts hand-made by Canadian artists. You can shop for local sea salts, jams, jewelry, fine art, and so much more. They also have a massive collection of French table linens available for purchase, imported directly from Provence, France.

If you’ve come to Victoria for a real West Coast fishing experience, we recommend booking with Beasley’s Fishing Charter. They offer open-ocean fishing or drift fishing down one of Vancouver Island’s scenic rivers. Discover the thrill of fishing for salmon, halibut, cod, or steelhead trout!

Once you’ve had a chance to enjoy everything Fisherman’s Wharf has to offer, head for a scenic walk down Dallas Road to the Ogden Point Breakwater, where you can walk out to sea while admiring the Indigenous paintings of sea life around you. If you’re lucky, you might spot some real local wildlife, including harbour seals and killer whales!
